Why they nest
The Odyssey is the first feature shot entirely on IMAX film cameras — over two million feet of 15-perf 65mm negative. Every frame is natively 1.43:1, so unlike a film that mixes formats, there is no scene that was composed for scope. Each wider ratio is a centre extraction taken out of that one frame, which is why they stack exactly inside each other rather than being different shapes.
